Subscriptions: Change Renewal Chain

Sometimes when you renew a Subscription, a new Subscription gets created rather than renewing it from the old one. This can be by mistake, on purpose, or as part of a process of tidying up a mistake. Changing the Renewal Chain allows you to mark the new Subscription as a renewal of the previous one. This can be done in both directions, meaning you can set a Subscription to be a renewal or a predecessor of another one.

This method can also be useful for renewing linked Subscriptions to another family member, especially for things like boat parking spaces.

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the Subscription for which you wish to change the Renewal Chain. This can be via a member’s profile, through Subscriptions > Browse Subscriptions, or Subscriptions > Manage Subscriptions.

  2. Click Action > Change Renewal Chain.

  3. Complete the Wizard:

    1. Renewal of: Set this field to be the Subscription that this Subscription is the renewal of, i.e. the Subscription selected here came before the current Subscription. Select the Subscription you want to link from the dropdown. If it is not there, enter the ID of the Subscription. This will definitely be necessary if the Subscription you are linking to belongs to another member, such as renewing a linked Subscription (such as a boat parking space) to another family member.

    2. Renewed to: Set this field to be the Subscription that this Subscription will renew to, i.e. the Subscription selected here came after the current Subscription. Select the Subscription you want to link from the dropdown. If it is not there, enter the ID of the Subscription. This will definitely be necessary if the Subscription you are linking to belongs to another member, such as renewing a linked Subscription (such as a boat parking space) to another family member.

    3. OK: Once happy with the details, click “OK” to set the new Renewal Chain.
