Competitions: Box Leagues

Box Leagues are round-robin style competitions where everyone plays everyone else within their box. Leagues are usually divided into divisions and players will be given a time frame to complete their matches. Often there can be promotion and relegation between boxes from season to season based on the results of the previous season.

Follow this guide to create the Competition before following these instructions: Competitions

Instructions

Boxes

  1. Click the green “Add” button.

  2. Complete the wizard:

    1. Name: The name of the Box.

    2. Description: A brief description of the Box.

    3. OK: Once happy with the details, click “OK” to save the Box.

  3. Repeat steps to add all Boxes. Please make use of the green “Copy” button to create Boxes with similar settings.

Boxes can be reordered so that they will appear in a particular order on the Results page. To do this, click the “Re-order” button and then drag and drop the Boxes around until they are in the desired order and then click “OK”.

Configuration

  1. Click the orange “Edit Settings” button.

  2. Complete the wizard:

    1. Points for Win: Set the number of points a player gets for a win.

    2. Points for Draw: Set the number of points each player gets for a draw, or set it to “Draw is not possible”.

    3. Points for Loss: Set the number of points a player gets for a loss. Sometimes this number may be more than 0 so that players who have lost have more points than players who have not played as many matches.

    4. Points for Playing: Set the number of points each player gets when a match gets played. This can be useful to differentiate between players who have played but lost, and those who have not played at all.

    5. Secondary Points: Sometimes you may have a draw at the end of the season, and need a secondary point to help decide an overall winner, such as number of goals. Define it here, or set to “None” if you don’t want a secondary result. If you set a secondary point system, you can choose to add these points to the points total for each participant.

    6. Play Count: Set how many times each participant will play the other participants in their box.

    7. Entrants Enter Own Results: If set to “Yes”, players will be able to enter their own results, for any matches that they’re involved in. If set to “No”, only organisers with Administrator checked (as set when creating the Competition) will be able to enter results.

    8. Introduction: This text will appear at the top of the Results page. This could be used to include instructions, rules, or an introductory message to the entrants.

    9. OK: Once happy with the settings, click “OK” to save the configuration.

Results

  1. Click the light blue “Results” button.

  2. Scroll to find the Box you are looking for, and go to the Results table.

  3. Locate where the two players intersect on the grid above the diagonal line.

  4. Click in the box.

  5. Complete the wizard:

    1. Was the match played: If no is selected, a walkover can be awarded to one player/team or the other. If set to yes, you can enter the details of the result:

      1. Date of Fixture: When did the match take place.

      2. Score: Write in the score from the match.

    2. Result: Select which player or team won, or choose a draw (if allowed).

    3. Player Points: These will be automatically set based on the options set in the Configuration settings.

    4. Player Secondary Points: Enter the values of the Secondary Points for each player or team.

    5. OK: Once happy with the details, click “OK” to save the Result.

  6. The table will have updated with the new score.

  7. Repeat steps to add all Results, or use the Import Results feature (see below).

If a result is entered by an administrator, two green ticks will appear beneath the score to show it has been confirmed. If the result is entered by one of the players, one tick will appear with the other appearing when the other player has confirmed the score (in the same way as entering the score, but clicking “Confirm” in place of “OK”).

Delete Result

Sometimes a result needs to be deleted for a variety of reasons, this can be done by:

  1. Navigate to the Results page for the appropriate Competition.

  2. Scroll down to the “Results” section for the appropriate division.

  3. Locate the result that needs removing.

  4. Click the red dustbin in this cell.

  5. Click “Yes” to confirm.

  6. The result can now be scheduled or the result recorded as required.
