Pausing Subscriptions

Sometimes a member needs to put their membership on hold, but doesn’t want to leave the club completely. Pausing a subscription allows you to do this more easily. Any subscription that is being paid by Direct Debit can be paused.

Pause Subscription

  1. Navigate to the user’s profile page, either by searching their name or finding them in the Member Directory.

  2. Click “My Subscriptions”.

  3. Next to the Subscription you want to pause, click Action > Pause Subscription.

  4. Click “Yes” to confirm.

  5. When a subscription has been paused, the member’s status will stay the same, so if the subscription gives them guest status, they will stay as guest status when their subscription is paused.

Edit Subscription

Before resuming a subscription, you may wish to change the cost of the subscription to account for the time missed while the subscription has been paused. If a subscription that has been paused is not edited, the member will continue to pay for the subscription after the end of the subscription.

To edit the end date of the subscription to account for the time paused:

  1. Navigate to the user’s profile page, either by searching their name or finding them in the Member Directory.

  2. Click “My Subscriptions”.

  3. Next to the Subscription you want to resume, click Action > Edit.

  4. Edit the end date to reflect the time the subscription was paused for.

  5. For repeat billing subscriptions, you can also edit the cost here.

  6. Click “OK” to save the edits.

For subscriptions that are being paid by instalments, you can edit the recurring payments to account for the time lost due to the subscription being paused.

  1. Navigate to the user’s profile page, either by searching their name or finding them in the Member Directory.

  2. Click “My Subscriptions”.

  3. Next to the Subscription you want to resume, click Action > Edit GoCardless Payments.

  4. Edit the appropriate settings:

    1. Amount: How much each payment is.

    2. Start Date: When the payments will start.

    3. Payment Count: How many payments are left to pay.

    4. Interval: How long between each payment.

  5. Once happy with the new total and all the other details, click “OK” to save the edits.
